Cape Cod Wind & Weather

The Weather Store is proud to offer the Cape Cod Wind & Weather line of weather instruments. Cape Cod Wind & Weather Instruments was founded in 1939 by Aaron Davis of Harwich Port and his son David. Being native Cape Codders with close ties to the sea, they designed and began production of two unique instruments that would appeal to sailors and other outdoorsmen of all persuasions: a wind speed indicator and a wind direction indicator. These novel instruments, until that time available only to government agencies and large companies with deep pockets, were the first to be made affordable and available to the general public. Those first efforts soon caught the public’s interest and Cape Cod Wind & Weather Indicators was born.

After almost 30 years of producing the two wind indicators, in 1977 the company introduced a Marine Barometer, incorporating a precision movement made in Germany. This was soon followed by the Cape Codder clock in 1982. In 1995, an Atlantic Coast tide indicator option was added to the clock. More recently, a Peak Gust Register was introduced as an option for the Wind Speed Indicator and in 2009 a tide clock, the Cape Cod Tide Keeper was added to the venerable line.
